Clinica Buteyko® was founded in 1988.
Clinica Buteyko® was founded as an official medical centre for treatment and prevention of health problems. The founder of the Clinic is Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko. Now the Clinic has 15-year history of existence and development.
The clinic was founded in Moscow. There is a historical interest in the official documents, which made the creation of the Clinic possible:
- Directive No. 161 of the Government of the USSR (5 May 1987)
- Permission of the Moscow City Counsel (signed by the Chairman Y.M. Luzshkov, who is currently the Head of Moscow)
- Permission of the Perov regional Deputy Counsel of Moscow city (signed by the Chairman V.P. Shantsev, who is currently the vice-Head of Moscow)
- Directive of the Moscow City Health Board (19 November 1987)
Clinica Buteyko® is the official medical centre for treatment and prevention of health problems.
The Buteyko method has been widely used in various state medical centres of the Soviet Health Ministry since 1985. The reason of such extensive application of the method was another collection of official documents. They confirmed the importance of practical application and clinical efficiency of this method of treatment. These documents are also of historical importance:
- Recommendations of the Scientific Health Counsel of the Soviet Health Ministry
- Conclusions in relation to the clinical trials of the Buteyko method (First Medical Sechenov’s Institute (Moscow Medical Academy), Moscow, 1981 and National Scientific Institute of Pulmonology of Soviet Health Ministry, Petersburg, 1968)

For more than 15 years Clinica Buteyko® in the only a medical centre in Moscow, which officially uses the Buteyko method for treatment of bronchial asthma, bronchitis, various allergies, pneumonia, chronic rhinitis, hypertension, stenocardia, and some other diseases and symptoms.
The Clinic offers the program of treatment of bronchial asthma using the Buteyko method with adjusted physical workouts.
Professor K.P. Buteyko was the director and the chief manager of the Clinic from the day of its creation until 2003. His leadership allowed development and successful application of the unique program of medical treatment. The patients can return to very active life style and to improve their quality of life literally after the first days of the treatment. That allows social re-adjustment even for the severely sick patients of the Clinic. International medical practice has no equivalents in respect to our program of treatment. Patients from all over the world, from Russia to New Zealand, arrive in our Clinic for medical treatment. As one of the examples is the program of treatment of severe bronchial asthma for patients on steroidal medications. Before the treatment in the Clinic, the life of such a patient is completely ruled by asthma, is poisoned by fear and is the chain of restrictions. For example, a normal walk, for majority of such asthmatics, is dangerous and can result in an asthma attack, if the dose of medications is not increased. The Clinic suggests the program of treatment of bronchial asthma in combination with simplest breathing exercises. Physical exercise, which is organized in accordance with a special plan, does not cause any negative emotions. Moreover, physical exercise returns the patient to life. It is a pleasure and, in a sense, surprise to see how a previously coughing and suffocated person, who could hardly climb 3 stairs at the Clinic’s entrance, can perform practically any, previously unthinkable physical activity.
The Clinic offers several programs of ambulatory treatment, with duration from 5 days to 1 year. These programs allow not only elimination of the most serious symptoms of the disease, but also the immune changes are monitored till the full cure (stable remission for more than 15 years). The most popular program is the program of drug-free immune correction and immune modulation. During this program the patient is observed for the period of up to 1 year. That allows complete elimination of any allergy or bronchial asthma and normalization of immunity that is checked using skin tests and a special method of immune assessment.
The Clinic also offers the program of family rest and treatment in one of the best retreat centres located near Moscow.
The Clinic participates in international programs of training of practitioners
Practitioners of the Clinic actively take part in international cooperation and training of practitioners using the Buteyko method outside Russia. The first International Conference devoted to the application of the Buteyko method for treatment of bronchial asthma and other diseases (New Zealand, 2000) showed exceptional interest of our foreign colleagues in the method. This Conference also outlined the leading role of the Clinic in teaching and preparation of Buteyko practitioners.
For the Second International Conference devoted to the Buteyko method (Australia, 2002) we prepared and offered a book in English with detailed description and artistic illustrations of the method of treatment of bronchial asthma. The book also describes the unique plan for hormonal treatment of asthma. This plan suggests using steroids during short and safe courses.
Several years ago Prince Charles of Whales, during a private meeting with Professor Buteyko in London, highly regarded Professor’s discoveries and expressed interest in their use in the British Health care system.

The Clinic developed and successfully implemented in practice educational programs, which allowed to medical professionals to get a qualification in the Buteyko method for treatment of various diseases. The history of any medical professional of the Clinic is interesting. It was a necessary condition of the Director and founder of the Clinic Professor Buteyko that any staff member of the Clinic must learn the Buteyko method and effectively use it in practice. The simplest method to prove own skills (in relation to the method) is to cure himself. That is one of the main principles of the eastern medicine “Doctor, before curing others, cure himself.” Many doctors, currently employed in the Clinic are former asthmatics, hypertensives, and allergy-sufferers. In other words, they suffered for years from various diseases, cured themselves, returned to active, meaningful life and currently apply all their efforts in order to help sick people to get rid of fears created by their health problems.

The trademark symbolizes life on Earth. Carbon is the main component of organic matter and all living creatures on our planet. The life is based on carbon compounds. Each atom of carbon has four chemical bonds for forming its crystalline lattice.
